When she managed, for instance, to get down to the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia before it closed on November 10, her enthusiasm overflowed in an article which she described as being composed of jottings from her centennial journal—one of the fugitive pennings in prose and verse she contributed to the Lynn papers from time to time. The comments were exactly what might have been expected of an exuberantly patriotic lady just back from the big show of the century.
