A meeting of Second Church was held, and the minority seemed so violently opposed, they offered no hope of unity, even though First Church, which had over three times as many members, offered to disorganize, elect new Readers, [and] adopt new bylaws, if Second Church would lovingly come in. So the majority (lacking just two votes of the necessary two thirds to disorganize) lovingly took letters of withdrawal and joined First Church as individuals.
